MW Social Tools: Privacy Policy

What MW Social Tools is
MW Social Tools is an internal software tool operated by MW Sound LLC. It helps us manage our own Instagram professional account (@mattwolachmix). It connects to Instagram through Meta's official Instagram API, after the account owner logs in with Instagram and grants permission. It is not offered to the public, and we do not sell it as a product.
This policy covers the tool only. Our website has its own privacy policy at https://mattwolachmix.com/privacy.
Information the tool accesses
When the account owner connects an Instagram professional account, the tool can access the following, but only the permissions that were granted:
- Account information: username, account ID, profile picture, account type, follower and media counts.
- Our posts: captions, media links, timestamps, and like and comment counts.
- Comments on our posts: comment text, timestamp, and the commenter's Instagram username and Instagram-scoped ID.
- Posts and comments that tag or @mention our account: the post or comment content, link, timestamp, and the author's username.
- Direct messages sent to our account: message text, attachments or links, timestamps, and the sender's Instagram-scoped ID and username.
- An access token issued by Meta. It lets the tool make API calls and is stored encrypted / with restricted file permissions.
The tool does not collect passwords, payment information, or data from accounts that have not interacted with our account.
How we use it
We use this information only to:
- Show us new comments, mentions, and messages in one place.
- Help us draft replies. No reply or message is sent unless a person at MW Sound LLC reviews and approves it.
- Reply to, hide, or delete comments on our own posts.
- Reply to direct messages people have sent us, within Instagram's messaging rules.
- Keep a short working history so we do not miss or duplicate replies.
We do not sell, rent, or share this data for advertising. We do not build profiles of people, and we do not use it for any purpose unrelated to managing our own Instagram account.
Service providers
To run the tool, data may be processed by service providers that act on our behalf and under their own security and confidentiality obligations:
- Cloud hosting / server provider where the tool runs: Cloudflare, Inc.
- An AI assistant service, used only to summarize comments and messages and suggest reply drafts for our review.
- Meta Platforms, which provides the Instagram API itself.
We do not otherwise disclose this data, except when required by law.
Retention
- Comments, mentions, and messages copied by the tool are kept for up to 90 days, then deleted. The originals stay on Instagram under Instagram's own policies.
- The access token is kept until it expires or the account disconnects the tool.
- If the account disconnects the tool or asks us to delete data, we delete the related data within 30 days (see Data Deletion below).
Data deletion
Anyone can ask us to delete data the tool holds about them. Instructions: https://mattwolachmix.com/social-tools/data-deletion. Or email matt@mattwolachmix.com with the subject "Data deletion request" and your Instagram username.
Security
Access to the tool is limited to MW Sound LLC. Data is sent over HTTPS, and tokens are stored with restricted access. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information.
Your choices
- The account owner can disconnect the tool at any time in Instagram: Settings → Website permissions / Apps and websites → remove MW Social Tools.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by emailing matt@mattwolachmix.com.
Children
The tool is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update it here and change the effective date.
